The Calling: Erin M Diericx

I graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater in May 2006 with a BA in Marketing, emphasis in Direct Marketing. My last two years in college I was a peer minister for the Lutheran-Episcopal Student Movement where I ran Bible studies, events, and meetings. As a peer minister with this ministry, I worked through the Biblical texts and grew closer to the Triune God.

After college, I got my MA in New Testament from Luther Seminary. My MA thesis on John 9 — the Healing of the Blind Man — focused on the healing process. Throughout my whole life, I have been prayed over for healing because I have Cerebral Palsy, which affects my muscle tone and my speech. I use an electric wheelchair to get around. To the naked eye, I appear to be unhealed: I cannot walk.

What people have been really asking God to do is to cure me of the Cerebral Palsy. However, if you had known me for any length of time, you would know I have gotten stronger, and more independent and wise, closer to the Triune God in my “old age.” This is how healing is defined. I may never be cured to truly walk without assistance, but I have still experienced healing in three key dimensions: physical, psychosocial, and spiritual.

As the founder of the God the Healer community, my vision is to bring understanding to the three dimensions of healing, thereby creating an understanding that healing is not just physical. For a more in-depth discussion on the dimensions of life and healing, please click on the definition tab.

May we continue to learn from your Word, Heavenly Father. May my words be acceptable to you as I write these weekly devotions. Thank you for fellowship with those who visit God the Healer. Amen

Many blessings,

Erin M Diericx
